Technology Advances at Mid-West....

Our Terminal Slitting Line now incorporates the most sophisticated equipment available for providing coil gauging and SPC data to our customers. We recently completed installation of the Data Measurements Series 410 Isotope Thickness Gauging System and are extremely proud of its unique capabilities.

Mid-West Materials first took advantage of this sophisticated new technology three years ago when the Gamma Instruments System was installed on our Delta Slitting Line. Through the use of low level Gamma Rays, the thickness across the width and length of a coil is continuously monitored and recorded. Any condition of off-gauge trips a signal to the machine operator during the gauging operation. We found that better gauge control made a better product. The original system used a continuous chart recorder to document coil thickness and it became difficult to process the data into a concise report that would be meaningful to our customers or provide us with any production data.
