AOLThe Frequently Asked
Question for
America Online Users
How do I
view your
pages with AOL?
Mid-West Materials is a fairly sophisticated Web site. In order to process orders and provide timely updates, this site relies on a number of layered technologies of which JavaScript is an important component. Unfortunately AOL's built-in browser cannot process JavaScript code. Therefore, we suggest that Hipotronics users connecting through AOL use a browser other than AOL's built-in browser, such as Netscape's Navigator 3.+ or Microsoft's Internet Explorer 3.+.
Simply: Follow these 5 simple steps:
Step One: Get another browser As stated above, either Netscape's Navigator 3.+ or Microsoft's Internet Explorer 3.+ will suffice. We suggest downloading the newest version available for your operating system (Windows™, Mac, Unix, et al). Here are the links for downloading these programs:

Netscape
MS Internet Explorer

Once you've downloaded one of these broswers, follow the instructions given by either Netscape or Microsoft for installing their browser. Both companies provide help pages for accomplishing this task.

Step Two: Connect to AOL AOLAs an AOL user, you ought to be familiar with connecting to AOL. You probably have a shortcut to the AOL application on your desktop that looks like this:

Simply double-click on this icon (while this language is specific for the Windows™ operating system, this sequence is very similar on Macintosh and Unix platforms as well), and the AOL application will launch. Follow the instructions offered and you'll connect to AOL.

If you're successful, you ought to see a window that looks like this:

AOL

Step Three: Minimize the AOL window AOLOnce you're connected to AOL -- STOP! Do not enter AOL by clicking on anything. Instead, simply click the window minimizer (again, this is Windows™-specific).

This will remove the AOL window from your view. Don't worry, you're still connected to AOL. But be sure not to click the "X". Doing so, WILL disconnect you from AOL.

Step Four: Launch your browser application AOLAfter you minimize the AOL window, you can then launch your browser -- either Netscape or Microsoft. If you were successful in step one, you ought to have a shortcut for one of these browsers on your desktop. You want to double-click that icon now. If you chose Netscape, that icon will look like this:

Step Five: Point your browser at Mid-West Materials Now that you have your new browser running, simply point it at Mid-West Materials by typing in "www.mid-westmaterials.com" in the Address field and hit the enter key.
